Christine Cummings Executive Director of Maine Grocers & Food Producers Association Christine Cummings Executive Director of Maine Grocers & Food Producers Association https://mgfpa.org Christine joined the Retail Association of Maine in February of 2015 and was promoted to executive director of the Maine Grocers and Food Producers Association in 2017. Christine oversees MGFPA and their nearly 200 independent and chain grocery store owners, food producers and suppliers to the industry. She is a registered lobbyist with experience in labor, environmental, taxation and business regulation issues. Christine has completed her first year at the U.S Chamber’s Institute for Organization Management (IOM) towards her CAE designation. Her background includes both business-to-business and direct-to-consumer marketing. Previously employed at The VIA Agency, Acorn Footwear and Johnny's Selected Seeds, she brings a variety of experience to our team including public relations efforts, media buys, print and social media, graphic design, and sales assistance. Christine received the 2018 New England Society of Association Executives Rising Star Award and has recently been nominated to the Food Industry Association Executives Board of Directors. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Maine at Orono. Christine grew up working at her father's convenience store business, admires the hard work and dedication of business owners and their employees and uses her real-life experience in her day-to-day membership management and lobby work.
Curtis Picard, CAE President and CEO of Retail Association of Maine Curtis Picard joined the Retail Association of Maine in November of 2007. Prior to his current position, Curtis was Vice President of Business Development and International Trade for the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. He was responsible for the chamber’s International Trade Program with offices in Shanghai, China and Taipei, Taiwan. Additionally, he coordinated the annual VT Business and Industry EXPO, the largest Business to Business tradeshow in Northern New England and managed the Vermont Aerospace and Aviation Association (VAAA), a group formed to support the aviation industry in Vermont and an affiliate of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. Picard currently serves on the board of directors of the NE Society of Association Executives and Topsham Development, Inc. He has previously served on the boards of the Maine Tourism Association, Council of State Retail Associations, National Retail Federation and InforME. He was appointed by Governor Janet Mills to the Economic Recovery Committee in 2020. In 2018, he was honored with the J. Thomas Weyant Award by the National Retail Federation recognizing the state retail association executive of the year. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1991 with a B.S. in Business Administration and he received a New York University Certificate in Sports and Event Management in 1993. He is a 2008 graduate of the U.S Chamber’s Institute for Organization Management and earned his Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in January of 2012. Curtis also serves as President & CEO of the New Hampshire Retail Association as the Retail Association of Maine provides association management services to their NH counterparts. Picard is a runner who has completed four marathons and is a former volunteer firefighter. He is married with one son and lives in Topsham.
